Luis Enrique wore #21 for Spain at the 1994 World Cup in the USA — a tournament Spain reached the quarter-finals of before losing to Italy. He was 24 years old and at Sporting de Gijón, about to complete a move to Real Madrid that would define the first phase of his playing career. As a midfielder, Luis Enrique was energetic, technically sound and combative — qualities he would later demand of every player he managed.
Luis Enrique went on to play for Real Madrid and then Barcelona, winning La Liga at both clubs. He earned 62 caps for Spain. As a manager he led Barcelona to the 2015 Treble and guided Spain to the Euro 2024 Final. This 1994 home shirt with his #21 is a fascinating collector's piece — the future one of Spain's greatest managers, wearing the shirt at his first World Cup.
