Roger Staubach played high school football at Purcell High School in Cincinnati before his legendary career at the Naval Academy and with the Dallas Cowboys. Wearing #12, he was already showing the athletic gifts and competitive instincts that would make him one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. Staubach went on to win the Heisman Trophy at Navy in 1963 — the first junior to win the award since 1944.
Known as Captain America for his military service and leadership qualities, Staubach spent five years in the Navy after college before joining Dallas at 27. He still won two Super Bowls (1972 and 1978), was named Super Bowl VI MVP and retired with 85 game-winning drives — a number that defined his reputation as the ultimate clutch performer. This high school throwback is from the very beginning of one of the NFL's most celebrated careers.
