Dominik Hašek wore #39 for the Czech Republic national team throughout the 1990s — the most decorated goaltender in hockey history and the player who redefined what the position could be. Hašek won six Vezina Trophies as the NHL's best goaltender, two Hart Trophies as league MVP — the first goaltender to win back-to-back since Jacques Plante — and led the Czech Republic to Olympic gold at the 1998 Nagano Games with performances in the semi-final against Canada and the final against Russia that remain the greatest goaltending of any Olympic tournament.
The Dominator's flexibility, anticipation and willingness to use any part of his body — his back, his chin, his blocker without the stick — made him technically unique in hockey history. His Buffalo Sabres years produced some of the most extraordinary individual goaltending seasons the NHL has recorded. This Czech Republic #39 throwback is from his peak decade — when he was simultaneously the best goaltender and arguably the best player in the world.
