Billy Cunningham attended Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn — the same storied school that produced multiple future stars — before heading to North Carolina and then the NBA. Known as the Kangaroo Kid for his extraordinary leaping ability despite standing 6'6", Cunningham wore #1 in his high school years and went on to become one of Philadelphia's greatest sporting figures across two separate decades.
Cunningham was a four-time All-Star with the Philadelphia 76ers and won the ABA's Most Valuable Player award with the Carolina Cougars in 1973. He later coached the 76ers to the 1983 NBA championship. Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn has one of the most remarkable basketball histories of any high school in America. This #1 throwback honours the Brooklyn beginning of a Hall of Fame journey that touched two professional leagues.
