Oscar Schmidt is the highest-scoring professional basketball player in history — 49,737 career points across all competitions, more than any NBA player has ever scored. Wearing #14 for Brazil, Schmidt was the most feared scorer in international basketball for two decades. At the 1987 Pan American Games in Indianapolis, he scored 55 points against Spain in a single game. At the 1988 Seoul Olympics he averaged 42.3 points per game — scoring over 40 in six of eight games.
Schmidt was offered NBA contracts on multiple occasions but chose to remain in Brazil and compete internationally — the rules at the time allowing him to play in the Olympics as an amateur. He represented Brazil at five Olympic Games from 1980 to 1996 and is the greatest player in South American basketball history. The NBA inducted him into the Hall of Fame in 2013. This 1987 Brazil #14 jersey is from the peak of a career with no parallel in the history of the sport.
